Přemysl Mikoláš
psychologist and psychotherapist
Přemysl Mikoláš, M.Sc., is a psychologist and psychotherapist, and member of the Czech Association for Psychotherapy. Since 2006, he has worked almost exclusively in the field of autism spectrum disorders (ASD). He looks at the issue of ASD in the context of the whole family, working with children and individually with parents, leading parents’ and grandparents’ groups and a group for men, and participating in accommodation events for these families in the Czech Republic.
He cooperates with the association ADAM – autistické děti a my, z.s. (Autistic Children And Us), as well as with early childhood intervention centres EDUCO in Zlín, and the Centrum LIRA, z.s. in Liberec.
Concurrently, he works as a psychologist and psychotherapist in Těrlicko’s children’s home and school, for children and adolescents with ordered institutional or imposed protective education. In recognition of his work with teenage boys at this facility, and their self-realization as assistants for children with ASDs during sports club activities, he received the Gratias Tibi Award from the People in Need Foundation (nadace Člověk v tísni) in 2017. The award honoured the support provided to children with ASD by the adolescent boys, who were also finalists for the prize in 2022.
Přemysl Mikoláš also works as a psychologist and psychotherapist at Autis Centrum o.p.s. in České Budějovice where, through individual and group consultations, he supports early childhood intervention, a social activation service, and a weekly inpatient facility for clients with ASD and mental disabilities.
In supporting families and counsellors of early childhood intervention in the context of Virginia Satir’s Transformational Systemic Therapy, he has collaborated with Romana Straussová, author of the Open Therapy of Autism (O.T.A.) method, since 2009, and actively participates in overnight stays for parents at the Autism Therapy Centre.
